Jazz event on Sunday 6 July
We have been invited to take part in a jazz event on Sunday 6 July and we need to find out how many of you might be interested to participate.

Where? At the Clapham Grand close to Clapham Junction station (21-25 St John’s Hill, SW11 1TT)

Who? The choral performance will be accompanied by the South London Jazz Orchestra (SLJO), conducted by Hugo Jennings. The choirs of St Mary's Battersea and London Sings (under the same umbrella charity as SLJO), are already involved, and Hugo is talking to other groups, with the aim of involving as many ensembles and individuals connected to Wandsworth as possible.

Performing? Selections from the Duke Ellington Sacred Concerts. Here's a link to the arrangement of the work which will be used (by John Høybye and Peder Pedersen) Duke Ellington_Sacred Concerts The performance lasts an hour in total so it would be presented as a long second half, likely with a short first half of Ellington tunes from South London Jazz Orchestra.

Rehearsal commitment?
- There will be a compulsory rehearsal during the day on 6 July.
- SLJO will have extra rehearsals on multiple Friday nights in May and June, and probably at least one of these will be allocated for a rehearsal with choir and band.
- If there’s sufficient interest and availability, we may organise a weekday rehearsal with Hugo at St Margaret’s, between 16 June and 2 July.

Anything else? There is limited rehearsal time, so unless you are skilled at sight reading you are likely to need "homework time" to learn it.
Unfortunately the score is not available yet as this might have helped you decide whether to participate.

Please sign up at a rehearsal if you are interested to sing. This would not commit you, it’s just to get an idea of numbers, and balance of interest between voice sections.
