TPC Artistic Director John Bate was honoured for his impressive contribution to the performing arts in Kingston. The presentation, by Deputy Mayor Mike Head was on behalf of Kingston Arts, a charitable organisation that promotes professional and amateur performers in the area.
"John’s contribution to the arts in the Borough over many years cannot be overestimated," commented Benjamin Costello, former Chair of Kingston Arts. "Countless young performers have benefited from his expertise and wisdom. John’s energy and commitment remain unbounded, not least in his work with Thames Philharmonic Choir."
The presentation was made at the 50th anniversary launch party of Kingston's Festival of the Voice, http://www.kingstonarts.co.uk/festival-of-the-voice-2017/) of which John was founding Artistic Director. For more than half a century too, his contributions to the Borough's art and culture scene have included his roles as Director of Music Performance at Kingston University, founder and Artistic Director of Thames Philharmonic Choir, and more than 16 years as Vice-President of Kingston Arts.
Thames Philharmonic Choir is taking part in Kingston Festival of the Voice : The concert 'A FEAST OF BAROQUE & 5 Modern Carols' , with Thames Festival Orchestra and professional soloists, is on 9 December at the splendid venue of All Saints Church, Kingston, 7.30pm.
